The Godfather 2012

  Alex SALSERITO

We are very pleased that Alex Salserito has agreed to be the godfather of the 7th edition of our Bordo-Rueda-Festival.

Alex Salserito is someone who needs no introduction in our middle of the Salsa in France. But many newcomers and friends abroad may not know him. A presentation of “the man" is required then.

Alex Salserito, Salsa Teacher and Caribbean Latino DJ at the Pachanga (Restaurant - Disco / Paris 14th) is one of the essential figures in the environment of Salsa in France.

Our collaboration with Alex Salserito started already for the first edition of our Festival in 2006. It soon became one of the DJs essential to our Festival because he always brought a kind of caribbean color to the Timba (The most popular version of the Cuban salsa nowadays). A feature that surely comes from its Caribbean origin. But also his openness to other musical horizons.

Alex Salserito is one of those DJs who are really popular, for two reasons:
- Because he is very well known of salsa dancers in France;
- But also because he is with the people and in the people.

Alex is never “being cocky”, he does not have the big head, he is humble, affordable, simple. A true DJ of the people that stirs our parties without compromise.

It is also the opportunity for us to pay tribute to the DJs. To all those who, behind their decks, make us dance whole nights. It is customary that the dance teachers and dancers are the most prominent at the Salsa festivals and congresses. DJs are often relegated to the background. Yet I have never seen a Salsa festival or congress ending just after the shows ("the shows are over, you can now go back home, thanks for coming"). No, never. The highlight of our evenings of Salsa festivals and congresses is the dancing night. And thanks whom? Thanks to these young people (sometimes not so young, I admit) who, behind their turntables, make us travel to these distant lands through all these bewitching sounds of mambo, timba, son, cha cha, bachata, kizomba, merengue, cubaton, rumba, guaguanco, zouk, kompa, colombiana, etc.

It is our duty, as organizers of festivals and conventions, to put on equal footing all the artists and technicians (in the jargon of show producers, the DJs are not artists, but sound technicians) who make the success of our events.

After Jack el Calvo, A'LatiCa pays then tribute to Alex Salserito, and he will not be the last DJ we will celebrate here. We therefore associate this tribute to all the DJs scheduled on the decks for this edition (you can find their names and photos under "ARTISTS / Djs").

I take advantage of this opportunity to give a wink to all the DJs who came to make us dance at the Bordo-Rueda Festival, but also at the Bordo-Mambo-Festival, since 2006.
